Greg's Ideas for Formative Assessment
"Notability" app for iPad - take pictures of math lessons as students are in action - then you can show it on the screen. Also you can give descriptive feedback by giving the student a picture of their student work and then record an audio message for each kid about their work. It integrates with "Dropbox" (an app but also a website). This can then be accessed from a folder created for the students, which they can then listen to. Every child received approximately 3-5 minutes of verbal descriptive feedback prior to producing their final draft.
"Edmoto" is another good website to leave students a little note or assignment, and it integrates with Google Apps.
Another great idea - have students each purchase a usb key and then you can use them in a similar way to what Greg described above to provide feedback and comments to students - and because of the usb, it can be taken home and shared with parents as well.
